The 9 Days Bird Watching & Rafting Tour will transport you from busy civilization to a world of wildlife and adventure. Appreciate the wonderful diversity of flora and fauna that is the unique to Sri Lanka. It takes you through some of the island’s most fascinating locations including coastal wetlands, rainforests and the soaring peaks of the hill country in search of exotic species of birds.

Sri Lanka is a birdwatchers’ delight and attracts more than 400 species, nearly half of them migrants and more than 20 endemic to the island.

The best time for birding in Sri Lanka is between November and March when the migrant birds have landed, but there is plenty to satisfy you all year round.

Explore the historic caves and breathtaking waterfalls. Visit nature parks teeming with wildlife and birds. Walk through extensive botanical gardens admiring the profusion of flora native to Sri Lanka.

Day 01 -Airport/ Colombo

Colombo / Airport transfer to a Hotel in Colombo.
Colombo is a fascinating city not only for a comfortable blend of east & west, but also a cosy mixture of past & present. It is the commercial hub of the country & is only 34 Km from the airport. Places of interest are the Galle Face Green, the Fort, Pettah, Town Hall and Independence Memorial Hall etc.

Day 02 -Colombo / Kitulagala

Leave Colombo after breakfast for Kitulgala.
Bird watching and visit Belilena caves. Belilena caves are a famous cave where the 12,000 year old skeletal remains of the Balangoda Man (Homosapiens Balangodensis) were found. Also found here are the waste parts of the food consumed by them. The floor is strewn with shells of river snails, which seems to have been a major part of their diet. This is a very large cave with a vast space inside where about a thousand people can gather easily.

Day 03 -Kitulagala

After breakfast white water Rafting at Kitugala.
Evening at your leisure
The Kelani river graded 2/3 rafting site stretches for six kilometers with seven exciting rapids namely, Teaser, Virgin’s Breast, Butter Crunch, Killer Fall, White Quarter, Head Chopper and Rafter’s Quarter. A briefing is given prior to running in the river with instructions on paddling techniques and “Man overboard Procedures.

Day 04 -Kitulagala /NuwaraEliya

After breakfast leave for NuwaraEliya.
Evening visit the Hakgala botanical gardens.
The center of the hill country also called the “Hill station” in British colonial jargon. This ruggedly picturesque location almost 6200 feet in elevation with it’s soft English spring climate resembles the English countryside in its landscape & buildings; which of course was started by the British, who made it their hill resort, during their rule in Sri Lanka, (then called Ceylon)”.

Day 05 -NuwaraEliya

After breakfast leave for Horton Plains.
Visit the World End and Bakers falls.
The rugged mountain route to the plains is a tough drive; but the hauntingly beautiful surroundings & majestic scenery will keep them enthralled throughout the journey. Horton Plains is a highland plateau comprising mountain grassland and elfin forest. It is home to a large variety of endemic birds & flora. The full day nature trail covering World’s End, a scenic viewpoint with a dramatic drop & Baker’s fall.
